The Moncton Motor Sport Club Inc. sanctioned by Atlantic Region Motor Sports will be hosting a two (2) day regional autoslalom event at the Slemon Park airport in Summerside, Prince Edward Island August 2nd – 4th, 2024. This event will consist of a test & tune on Friday, an autoslalom event on Saturday, and a second autoslalom event on Sunday. This event is also the ARMS Autoslalom Championships. The cost for the weekend has been set at $175.00CAD before July 12th ($200.00CAD after). Registering three weeks prior to the event date includes entry for each days event, an event t-shirt, and a ticket for the Saturday night banquet. Trophies will be given out at the end of competition on Sunday. Awards for the will be based on the appropriate 2024 classing structure.
The site for the event used to be known as CFB Summerside and was made available to the town of Summerside when the base was decommissioned. Since that time the area has been developed as an industrial park and sports facility. Located on site are accommodations for almost 500 people, ranging from dorm style rooms, to private rooms, and housekeeping units, a restaurant, a lounge, and RV parking with water and electrical hookups. Also located on site are an indoor ice arena, and baseball diamonds. In past years anyone using the accommodations on site had access to these facilities.
The actual autoslalom courses will be run on the concrete apron and a portion of an inactive taxi way of the airport located here. During competition at the 2002 CNAC event, the site used an area of approximately 2000’+ X 400’+ giving an average course time of about 100 seconds on both courses.
